Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Dtoxify ("the Service"), whether through the dtoxify.life website or the WhatsApp bot, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.
Description of Service
Dtoxify is a food and product transparency tool that allows users to scan product barcodes via WhatsApp and receive health-related analysis including a Dtoxify Score, Nutri-Score, NOVA processing level, flagged additive information, and healthier product alternatives. The Service uses data from publicly available regulatory databases including Open Food Facts, WHO/JECFA, and EFSA.
Medical and Health Disclaimer
Specifically, you understand and agree that Dtoxify scores are algorithmic assessments based on publicly available data and should not be the sole basis for dietary decisions. Individual responses to chemicals, additives, and ingredients vary significantly based on genetics, health conditions, dosage, and other factors. Allergy warnings provided by Dtoxify are based on reported ingredient data which may be incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated, and should not be relied upon as the sole source of allergen information. The absence of a warning does not guarantee the absence of an allergen. Flagged chemicals are highlighted based on regulatory assessments by bodies like IARC, EFSA, and JECFA, and their inclusion does not necessarily mean they pose an immediate health risk at the levels present in the product.
Points and Credits System
Dtoxify operates a points-based system where users earn points through various activities (signing up, sharing email, referring friends, contributing product data, maintaining scan streaks) and spend points on product scans. Your first 5 scans are free. After that, each scan costs 3 points.
Points have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred to other users, or redeemed outside the Dtoxify platform. We reserve the right to modify the points economy (including earn rates, costs, and free scan limits) at any time with reasonable notice to active users. Points balances are not guaranteed and may be adjusted if we detect abuse or system errors.
User Responsibilities
By using the Service, you agree to provide accurate information when contributing product data, not to abuse or manipulate the points system, not to use automated tools to send messages or scan products at scale, not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose, and to understand that you are responsible for your own health and dietary decisions.
Intellectual Property
The Dtoxify brand, scoring methodology, website design, and bot responses are the intellectual property of Dtoxify. Product data sourced from Open Food Facts is used under the Open Database License (ODbL) and remains under that license. Data contributed by users to Dtoxify that is shared with Open Food Facts is contributed under the ODbL license terms.
Data from Third-Party Sources
Dtoxify aggregates data from multiple publicly available sources. While we strive for accuracy, we cannot guarantee that all product information is complete, current, or error-free. Product formulations change, databases may contain errors, and regional variations exist. Dtoxify provides information on an "as-is" basis.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Dtoxify and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to damages arising from dietary decisions made based on Dtoxify scores or recommendations, allergic reactions or health issues related to products scanned through the Service, inaccuracies in product data from third-party databases, service interruptions or unavailability, or loss of points or credits due to system issues.
Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid to Dtoxify in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $10, whichever is greater.
Service Availability
We strive to keep Dtoxify available 24/7 but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, server issues, or factors beyond our control. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time.
Account Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms, abuse the points system, or engage in behavior that harms other users or the Service. You may stop using the Service at any time and request deletion of your data by messaging "delete my data" on WhatsApp.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. For material changes, we will provide notice through the WhatsApp bot or on this page.
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
